JANUARY PRESIDENT'S LETTER TO SEABROOK ISLAND CLUB MEMBERS
Happy New Year to all of our members! The Club will end 2010 in excellent financial condition with nearly $2 million cash on hand including $450,000 in reserve funds. As reported previously, we are forecasting a profitable 2011 with additional cash available for reserves of $25,000.
The Club Mission for 2011 is:"To be the first choice for social, recreational and dining activities for our members and guests". A primary Goal, assigned to the Club Membership Committee is: "To achieve a growing and active satisfied membership." A Strategy within that goal is: "To raise member satisfaction to the level where every member is an active recruiter." To assist in achieving this, the Membership Committee has reviewed member surveys and has been holding focus groups with all categories of members to seek opportunities for improvements.
Member surveys, including the joint annual survey, reflect increasing member satisfaction with our Club. This includes our new world class Club House & ocean front Beach Club as well as our championship golf courses, top ranked tennis facilities and a much improved dining experience. The Membership Committee continues to focus on increasing membership while encouraging increased utilization of our beautiful facilities by all of our members which will enable the Club to control member costs. We are listening to our members and we care about what members want. After all, it's your Club and the Club depends on your support. Our goal is to become your social center of choice where you can relax, meet friends and have an enjoyable experience at a reasonable cost.
To make sure we provide products and services that members will utilize and enjoy, the Membership Committee has been conducting focus group meetings with our members to get their input on what they want in our club. We have received and are exploring a number of good ideas, such as:
Explore various theme nights and dining discounts to increase traffic
Providing a larger variety of interactive, fun, social events (last years talent show was a big hit and the upcoming trivia nights will be a good start)
Focus on making the Seabrook Island Club facilities the social center of choice for our members
Establish a system to reward those who frequently dine at the Club
The Seabrook Island Club is a partnership with its members so let us hear from you also. Give us your feedback. Send your ideas and comments to Caleb Elledge, General Manager at celledge@discoverseabrook.com. The General Manager's breakfast takes place on the second Friday of each month at 8:30 AM; this is a great venue to share your ideas. Please consider making a reservation. The Membership Committee will continue focus groups through the first half of 2011 to broaden the sample and input.
The Club annual meeting will take place at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 19 in the Atlantic room. We hope many of you will attend. Meeting materials will be mailed to all members in mid-January.

THANK YOU TO THE MEMBERS
For many people, Christmas is a time of sorrow. They don't have the extra money to buy presents for their children, family, and friends. Many are saddened at Christmas time when they think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for various reasons. Turkey dinners may be only a wish and not a reality for some.
I always think about two symbolic features of Christmas. First, the perfectly round wreath strongly emblematic of Natural Real love never ceases. "Love is one continuous round of affection." Secondly, Santa Claus; exudingthe generosity and good will we feel during the month of December."
Without the existence of these emotions that have been taught and passed down from generation to generation, the people that struggle through Christmas would not have hope! Knowing these values gives me abounding respect, admiration, & gratitude to the members for their leadership in showing "True Christmas spirit". The fact that we get these "bonuses" a month in advance really starts Christmas in the right direction. Being given such a generous gift helps the employees pass happiness to family, friends and even strangers. "Trust me, I hear the testimonies daily".
From me and the rest of the Seabrook Island Club staff we would like to convey our sincerest gratitude for your generosity and thank you for your continuous support!
Warmest Regards,
Robert Tipsword
Banquet Captain
Dear Members,
I'd like to start by saying Thank You. As a first year employee many things come to mind around the holiday season such as bills and gifts but your generosity this year has eased those concerns. I know I speak for myself, my fellow employees in golf maintenance, and employees from all parts of the Club when I say the holiday bonus was and is greatly appreciated. Let there be no doubt your gifts brought a smile to everyone that works here at Seabrook Island Club and our families and I am certain that this is one of the many reasons why the Club is consistently voted a great place to work. Thank you again, and may God bless.
Sincerely,
Grayson Clark

The History of Seabrook Island Club
The History of Seabrook Island Club
In time for the New Year, a history of the Seabrook Island Club is now available for $16.95 at the Golf Pro Shop and the Tennis Pro Shop. This 6" x 9" book makes an excellent "gift." Written by Ron Ciancio with help from Sue Holloman, Lisa Miller, Ike Smith and Steve Ward, the book provides a detailed history of the Seabrook Island Club, including the early attempts of the property owners to purchase the recreational assets from the Island's developer, Robert Russell, through Russell's bankruptcy, the bank's foreclosure and the successful efforts of the property owners to purchase the assets from the bank. The book describes the Island One campaign, the Horizon Plan as well as other highlights from the Club's history. The book will make interesting reading both for those property owners who lived through the experience as well as new property owners who want to learn more about the Club's history.
