IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This is a reminder to please complete and return your Club Proxy Ballot which was mailed out December 30. A quorum is essential to the voting process and a total of 66,133 member votes are required to constitute a quorum.



In order for your vote to be counted, your ballot must be returned to the Club offices not later than February 17, 2011, or may be mailed to the Club, provided it is received at the Club offices not later than February 18, 2011. If you have not received a Club Proxy Ballot please contact Lisa Miller in the Membership Office via e-mail at lmiller@discoverseabrook.com or at 843.768.7805.




The Little Big Band Planet "D" Nonet

The Seabrook Island Club & The Kiawah Arts Council have teamed up to bring a big band to Seabrook! This event is a concert and we will have theater style seating available. Seating is on a first come first serve basis. Bar drinks will be available for purchase. We encourage you to make dinner reservations in the dining room before the event by calling 768-2571, as there will be no food option at the actual concert.

You will need a ticket to the event, but the tickets are free.

You can reserve a ticket by calling 768-9166.

Trivia Night in Bohicket's

5:30pm

Every 1st Thursday of the month will be trivia night in Bohicket's. You can play by yourself or create a team to compete for a free bar tab. No need to sign up and the event is free! Grab a table and play while eating dinner or sit at the bar for this casual night with friends. Just be sure to leave or turn off your smartphones.



GOLF NEWS


Casual Golf at Seabrook

The Casual Golf Group at Seabrook Island was launched recently with casual golfers enjoying 9 holes on Ocean Winds followed by a Friday Happy Hour from 5 - 6:30 in Bohicket's. We will continue on a weekly basis playing 9 holes each and every Friday afternoon at 2:30 pm. The golf shop will arrange pairings and you may also request to play with someone. No entry fee, no format - just golf!

Adult Clinics

New winter hours - Tuesdays from 10:30 - 11:30 the professional staff conducts a short game clinic on pitching, chipping, putting, and bunker play. One week, we focus on chipping and putting. The next week, we focus on pitching and bunker. So, if you are beginner or just need a tune-up on the short game, call the Golf Shop, 768-2529, to sign up. The cost is $15.

Thursdays from 10:30 - 11:30 and Saturdays from 11 -12, the professional staff conducts a 1 hour clinic devoted to the full swing. This is a great way for you and your guests to get quality instruction prior to playing or just to hone your skills. Whatever your playing level, the full swing clinic can aid your swing development. The cost is $15.00

Congratulations to the "Blue Team" as this year's winners of the 3rd Annual Wicks and Sticks Golf Tennis Challenge held this past weekend. Thank you to the 44 participants who all competed well, braved some winter weather and hopefully enjoyed the team competition and camaraderie!

DID YOU KNOW?

In addition to the weekly club email blast, the tennis community has an email list of players who frequently receive additional information about tennis news, upcoming events, etc. If you are not already on the list, and would like to be please contact Katie Bethune at the Racquet Club (kbethune@discoverseabrook.com) and she will be happy to include you on the list and you will begin to receive tennis information right away!



TNT (Tennis in No Time)

This program is specifically designed for players who have never played tennis or have not played in a number of years. It emphasizes the basics of doubles play combining both skills and strategy. The program consists of four one hour sessions that will teach social doubles play in two weeks! The next session begins Tuesday, February 8th and runs through Thursday, February 17th. Classes take place on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00am-12:00pm. Advanced registration and a minimum number of students are required. For more information or to reserve a spot you may contact the pro shop at 768-7543.



Ladies Quads Continue though the Winter!

Every Thursday at 9:00am

Pre sign is required and space may be limited

This program is currently open to women of all levels and is designed to provide competitive outlet for play on an ongoing/regular basis. Players may register in advance in the pro shop. Sign ups after each Tuesday (48 hours prior to the date) will be accepted on a space available basis.

If it is your first time playing in the quadrant the pro's will place you in what they feel is the appropriate position utilizing NTRP and prior experience as guidelines.



Private Lesson Package Series Discounts

Purchase a series of 5 private lessons with the pro of your choice and the sixth lesson is free!! A package of regular lesson times can be a great way to take your game to the next level in a short period of time. Lesson series must be completed within a two month time frame.



Custom Group Lesson Package Discounts

Members may select the time and participants of their choice for these clinics.

This package consists of a four week program of one hour group clinics.

Three person clinic for four weeks $60*

Four or more person clinic for four weeks $54*

*Price reflects a 25% discount, all times are booked based on pro availability



Customized Camps

Offer good through March 1st, 2011

This program is designed for team captains and group organizers.

Any group with a minimum of 8 players participating in 4 or more hours of camp instruction qualifies the captain/organizer for a free camp! For non resident members looking to bring a qualifying tennis group to Seabrook Island, your camp instruction will be free!
