The History of Seabrook Island Club

The History of Seabrook Island Club

In time for the New Year, a history of the Seabrook Island Club is now available for $16.95 at the Golf Pro Shop and the Tennis Pro Shop. This 6" x 9" book makes an excellent "gift." Written by Ron Ciancio with help from Sue Holloman, Lisa Miller, Ike Smith and Steve Ward, the book provides a detailed history of the Seabrook Island Club, including the early attempts of the property owners to purchase the recreational assets from the Island's developer, Robert Russell, through Russell's bankruptcy, the bank's foreclosure and the successful efforts of the property owners to purchase the assets from the bank. The book describes the Island One campaign, the Horizon Plan as well as other highlights from the Club's history. The book will make interesting reading both for those property owners who lived through the experience as well as new property owners who want to learn more about the Club's history.

FINAL REPORT ON THE MT. ZION NEEDY FAMILY CHRISTMAS PROJECT
Our heartfelt thanks go out to our generous tennis and golf ladies, as they donated a total of over $3,400 this year for the needy families at Mt. Zion! The number of needy families increased to 18 this year, and number of children to 56, and we were so fortunate that the golf ladies joined in on the project!

We spent $2,100 on Food Lion gift certificates, over $1,300 on clothing, shoes and books, and received a large bounty of toys from Toys for Tots. We shopped, wrapped and took huge bags of gifts to the school for the neediest families, and they surely had a great holiday due to your generosity. Rest assured that your donations were put to good use; children now will have shoes and clothes that fit and some finally have a warm jacket to wear; books to enjoy and further their reading and toys for fun. For example, we were able to get shoes for a 4 year old who had none, and a winter jacket for a 12 year old girl who had outgrown hers. We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Marilyn Armstrong, Anne Smith & Paula Adamson
