GOLF NEWS

MGA Island Cup Match Wednesday, May 19th
Qualifying has begun for the second and final leg of this men's interclub match against our neighbors from the Governor's Club at Kiawah Island. Qualifiers are held in conjunction with MGA Play Days on that course every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, so inform the professional staff before play if you'd like to attempt to qualify. This event will be held at Kiawah Island on the Cougar Point course starting at 9:30 with lunch following.

SILGA Memorial Wednesday, May 19th

Both 9 and 18 hole ladies are paired together for this four person team event. The format is a captain's choice scramble and teams will be handicapped so everyone has a fair chance of winning. A luncheon will follow play so call the golf shop and get signed up - this is the last SILGA Tourney of the season!

Our second Get Golf Ready program of 2010 is coming up May 17th - 21st. This introductory program is designed to teach you in five short lessons everything you'll need to know to step onto a golf course and play with confidence. Lessons will include on-course activities guided by our trained professional staff who will make sure you have fun each step of way. The cost for the week is $99.00. Space is limited and filling up quickly, so call the golf shop to sign up.

Adult Clinics

Every Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 the professional staff conducts a short game clinic on pitching, chipping, putting, and bunker play. One week, we focus on chipping and putting. The next week, we focus on pitching and bunker. So, if you are beginner or just need a tune-up on the short game, call the Golf Shop, 768-2529, to sign up. The cost is $15.

On Thursdays from 9:30- 10:30 and Saturdays from 12 - 1, the professional staff conducts a 1 hour clinic devoted to the full swing. This is a great way for you and your guests to get quality instruction prior to playing or just to hone your skills. Whatever your playing level, the full swing clinic can aid your swing development. The cost is $15.00.

TENNIS NEWS

Transition to the New Racquet Club

We are happy to report construction of the new Racquet Club building is well ahead of schedule and the final touches are being completed this week! We are currently checking in players in the new pro shop and would like to communicate several key transition timeline goals we have established. We hope these are helpful in making the transition as smooth as possible

4/22: Phone, computers and cable on-line

4/22-4/25: Initial move-in

Week of 4/26: Outdoor furniture delivery, Limited merchandise displayed, Housekeeping cleaning schedule begins

Week of 5/3: Restroom accessories arrive (estimated)

Week of 5/10: Additional pro shop fixtures arrive (estimated), remaining merchandise displayed and inventoried (pending fixtures)

5/14: Tennis shop fully up and running

Unknown: Restroom cubbies and shower towels

This week the existing tennis parking lot is scheduled to be repaved. The parking lot will be closed to all car and foot traffic during the process. Temporary parking will be set up by Robert Terry, Facility Supervisor, and will be very similar to the parking arrangements used during the Alan Fleming Tournament which will utilize the grass area in front of courts 11-14. It is important the fire lane stays open on Long Bend Drive and the designated parking areas will be clearly marked. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this phase of the transition. We also look forward to seeing each of you in the new building on your next visit!
