The McGladrey Team Championship

For the third straight year, we will be hosting a "members only" qualifier for The McGladrey Team Championship, the first nationwide best-ball amateur championship conducted by the PGA of America. The qualifier will be Saturday morning, May 16th on our Crooked Oaks course. The winning team will advance to the Sectional Final which will be held this year at Osprey Point on Kiawah Island August 4th.

The format will be best ball of three person teams, men or women or combination of both, using 75% handicap. Teams must use each player's score on a minimum of three (3) holes. The total handicap index combined of all three partners will be a maximum of 54.0 if all male, 70.0 if one female, 80.0 if two females, 90.0 if all three are females. More information can be found at www.pga.com/teamchampionship.

Find a couple partners and sign up early in the Golf Shop. We want to qualify as many teams as we can!!! We need a minimum of 7 teams participating to qualify the winner for the Sectional Event in August, so let's get out there and show how good our club's golfers really are!!! Cost is $55 plus appropriate cart fee. A portion of all entry fees will be donated to the Special Olympics.

If you need help finding a team or player or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the golf shop at 768-2529 or email me at bthelan@discoverseabrook.com.

Frequently Asked Questions About The New Facilities

What are the opening dates for the facilities? ·The Seabrook Shoppe will have a Grand Opening on
Friday, May 15th 5:00-7:00pm and will open for full hours on Saturday, May 16th. ·Pelican's Nest and the
Pools are scheduled to open on Wednesday, May 20th for lunch.
What are the hours of operation for the facilities? ·Seabrook Shoppe: Monday~Thursday 9am~5pm &
Friday~Sunday 9am~7pm ·Pools: Monday~Sunday. Opening at 7:00am for lap swimming and closing at
8:30pm. ·`Pelican's Nest: Monday-Sunday. Opens for lunch at 11am; closes when the last person leaves.
Will the Pelican's Nest menu be the same as last year? ·Not really. The menu Chef Randy is developing
will consist of sandwiches, salads and pizzas, but we will also have dinner entrees available after 5:00pm in
addition to daily dinner specials.
Will we still have the weekly Seafood Buffet? ·Yes, except it will be much more casual and moved to
Sunday evenings. This Sunday Fish Fry will begin the first Sunday in June and continue through Labor Day
weekend. The Sunday Fish Fry will be at the Pelican's Nest.
Will a menu be available on Sunday nights during the Fish Fry? What about Members' Nights?
·`Only the buffet will be available on Sunday evenings, beginning at 5:00pm. ·Members' Nights will have to
be put on hold during the summer months, but is planned to return when we move into the new Island House.
Will the Pelican's Nest take reservations? ·Because we predict such high demand, we will not be able
to accommodate a reservation system this year. We will have to do the best we can to accommodate as
many people as possible, which is best done on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Will the weather affect the hours of operation of the Seabrook Shoppe or Pelican's Nest?
·No. We're committed to being open rain or shine. Only if severe weather threatens the safety of our
members, guests and employees will we close or alter the hours of operation.
Will there be live entertainment at the Pelican's Nest? ·Yes, each Friday and Sunday night from 5pm~9pm.
Will the international service staff be returning this summer? ·No. Due to the variations that often
accompany a construction project of this magnitude, we did not feel that it would be responsible to commit to
this program, though the results in the past have been very positive. There are a lot of expenses associated
with the H2B's and we did not want to be found in the position of having to fund this staffing program if
there were significant delays with opening the facilities. This is one of the reasons we've chosen to close the
Island House and transfer all food and beverage staff to the Pelican's Nest. Most likely this program will
return in the future.
What will happen to the fitness center? ·The fitness center equipment will transition to the new Lake
House facility this summer. The existing fitness center building will become a support building for the Ocean
Terrace, housing restrooms, changing rooms and storage for banquet furnishings.
