NEW CLUBHOUSE TRANSITION ITEMS FOR GOLF OPERATIONS
Bag Storage
The bag storage operation will be relocated to the new clubhouse beginning August 3rd. Since we will be using the existing bag racks in the new building, we ask that members pick up their clubs on or before July 31st. Please keep them, bring them back and forth to play and practice, and return them to bag storage in the new clubhouse following the move.
Lockers
Members who currently have a locker will automatically be assigned a new locker. We will host an informal "open house" Wednesday, August 5th at 5:30pm, and specific locker preferences may be requested at that time. Please empty locker contents by August 4th.
Members requesting a locker in the new clubhouse should notify Brian Thelan as soon as possible to secure their spot. The locker fees are $150 per year and full golf members will receive a 50% discount. Please call Brian at 768-7539, email to bthelan@discoverseabrook.com, or just let him know next time you're in the golf shop.
MGA SUPERINTENDENT'S REVENGE SATURDAY AUGUST 8TH
Our only MGA tournament event in August, the annual Superintendent's Revenge is always a big hit. Sean Hardwick and his staff get their pleasure by torturing us with a challenging course set up for this individual stroke play event. Play will begin at 9:00 am on Crooked Oaks, lunch will follow play and the entry fee is $25 plus applicable golf fees. Please sign up in the golf shop, call 768-2529 or send an email to golf@discoverseabrook.com.
THE BLITZ
Join us Wednesday afternoons at 3 pm for a quick and casual 9 holes of golf. You may partner with the General Manager, the Head Golf Professional, the Director of Golf Course Maintenance or any number of other members of the club staff. Each player contributes $12 to the prize pool, plus carts, and we play a Captain's Choice Scramble. Please sign up by noon the day of play.
ADULT CLINICS
Every Tuesday, from 9:30 - 10:30, the professional staff gives a short game clinic on pitching, chipping, putting, and bunker play. One week, we focus on chipping and putting. The next week, we focus on pitching and bunker. So, if you are beginner or just need a tune-up on the short game, call the Pro Shop, 768-2529, to sign up. The cost is $15.
On Thursday's, from 9:30- 10:30, the professional staff give a 1 hour clinic devoted to the full swing. This is a great way for you and your guests to get quality instruction prior to playing or just to hone your skills. Whatever your playing level, the full swing clinic can aid your swing development. The cost is $15.00
JUNIOR CLINICS
Every Wednesday and Friday at noon, the professional staff gives the juniors an opportunity to learn a bit about the golf swing and the game of golf. If you have clubs, bring them, if not we have clubs to fit all juniors. It's an hour of fun at the golf course! To insure availability, please call the Pro Shop to sign up, 768-2529. The cost is $10.00
VACATIONS FOR VETS
Dear Seabrook Neighbor,
As you may be aware, we have been actively collecting good condition, used clothing and household items for a Veterans Shelter in North Charleston. To date we have been able to collect numerous of bags of donations from the generous Seabrook Island residents. This program has been so successful and so appreciated by the veterans that we have started looking for additional ways to help - and we have found it!
We would like to introduce you to a wonderful Washington DC based organization called VACATIONS FOR VETERANS.
This nonprofit organization provides a week of free vacation lodging to purple heart recipients from the Afghanistan or Iraq campaigns. These wounded veterans face many new challenges: readjusting to society, rebuilding their lives, and reconnecting with their families. For many of our wounded veterans, time away to rejuvenate is a luxury that is often unattainable and unaffordable.
The Seabrook Island Club has generously offered the veterans amenity cards at no cost, and free use of the golf, tennis and equestrian facilities. Also the families may purchase food at the Club House for a reduced price. This will be extended to properties of non-members. We ask that you consider donating a week of time at your vacation home to provide our Veterans with the opportunity to experience our beautiful island with their families.
Denise Kotva, Carol Fehon and Johanna Tuleikis are the Seabrook ambassadors for this program. When you donate a week of time in your vacation home we will greet the family, answer any questions they may have, and see to the check out and cleaning of your property.
Providing wounded veterans with a week of relaxation is a wonderful opportunity for both veterans and donors alike. It is a chance for many of us to show our appreciation for our veteran's honorable service to our country.
Please help us thank these veterans by donating a week in your home or a financial donation to cover cleaning costs. For more information about this organization go to http://www.vacationsforveterans.org. Then contact us at the addresses listed below. All contributions to Vacations For Veterans are tax deductible. Federal Tax Id#20-8653432. Thank you for your generosity.
