Practice Area Renovation
Seabrook Island Club golf course maintenance department and Aspen Construction will begin the second phase of the practice area renovation portion of the Horizon Plan starting the 20th of May. Construction of the new Crooked Oaks putting green will begin, followed by the driving range tee extension the following week.

The driving range tee alterations will be the part of the project that will most effect member and guest play. The range tee and the current putting green will be stripped of all sod around the 26th of May with earthwork starting shortly thereafter. Bag stands will be placed in front of the current range tee, at the beginning of the range fairway, and ONLY irons will be permitted, as the condos and town homes at the end of the range will be too much in play to allow drivers and fairway metals.

The current chipping green will be used as the practice putting green throughout the remainder of the summer until the new Crooked Oaks putting green opens in late August. The driving range tee should be mostly completed for use by July 4th, with some path and hardscape work to be completed around the 7th of July. Golf Course Maintenance personnel and the Golf Shop will be working to make sure that access is available to Crooked Oaks and the front of the driving range tee during this construction period.

The new Ocean Winds putting green construction will begin in September after the demolition of the old Island House.

We appreciate your patience during this time and look forward to bringing you a product that will be an enormous improvement over our current practice facilities.

Sean Hardwick, Director of Golf Course Maintenance

Frequently Asked Questions About The New Facilities

What are the hours of operation for the facilities? ·Seabrook Shoppe: Monday~Thursday 9am~5pm &
Friday~Sunday 9am~7pm ·Pools: Monday~Sunday. Opening at 7:00am for lap swimming and closing at
8:30pm. ·Pelican's Nest: Monday-Sunday 11am-9pm.
Will the Pelican's Nest menu be the same as last year? ·Not really. The menu Chef Randy is developing
will consist of sandwiches, salads and pizzas, but we will also have dinner entrees available after 5:00pm in
addition to daily dinner specials.
Will we still have the weekly Seafood Buffet? ·Yes, except it will be much more casual and moved to
Sunday evenings. The Sunday Fish Fry will begin the first Sunday in June and continue through Labor Day
weekend. The Sunday Fish Fry will be at the Pelican's Nest.
Will a menu be available on Sunday nights during the Fish Fry? What about Members' Nights?
·Only the buffet will be available on Sunday evenings, beginning at 5:00pm. ·Members' Nights will have to
be put on hold during the summer months, but is planned to return when we move into the new Island House.
Will the Pelican's Nest take reservations? ·Because we predict such high demand, we will not be able
to accommodate a reservation system this year. With the exception of The Sunday Fish Fry in order to help our kitchen better prepare.
Will the weather affect the hours of operation of the Seabrook Shoppe or Pelican's Nest?
·No. We're committed to being open rain or shine. Only if severe weather threatens the safety of our
members, guests and employees will we close or alter the hours of operation.
Will there be live entertainment at the Pelican's Nest? ·Yes, each Friday and Sunday night from 5pm~9pm.
Will the international service staff be returning this summer? ·No. Due to the variations that often
accompany a construction project of this magnitude, we did not feel that it would be responsible to commit to
this program, though the results in the past have been very positive. There are a lot of expenses associated
with the H2B's and we did not want to be found in the position of having to fund this staffing program if
there were significant delays with opening the facilities. This is one of the reasons we've chosen to close the
Island House and transfer all food and beverage staff to the Pelican's Nest. Most likely this program will
return in the future.
What will happen to the fitness center? ·The fitness center equipment will transition to the new Lake
House facility this summer. The existing fitness center building will become a support building for the Ocean
Terrace, housing restrooms, changing rooms and storage for banquet furnishings.
