Revised Schedule for 2011

May 31st Draw party

June 2-5 Mixed Doubles Championships

June 6-8 Singles Championships

June 9-12 Men's and Women's Doubles Championships

Several points to consider when choosing to participate in this event

-This year we have selected specific dates for each part of the championship, players only need to commit to several days for each part (see above)

-Will not play more than one match a day, allowing for early morning match start times to help avoid potential Spoleto Festival conflicts

-As a flighted championship, members will compete against opponents at their own level, -ALL levels are encouraged to participate.

Tennis Mentoring Program

Our tennis mentoring program was launched this past winter and we are excited to announce the program continues for the Spring! Now is a great time to be on the court, and we have made adjustments to the program that make it easier than ever to participate.

For the Mentees

Just indicate an interest that you would like to have experienced players help you make the game more fun and rewarding. Whether it's just creating a better rally, hitting against more pace, or just a simple rules or etiquette question you need answered, we have a wealth of experience to draw from here at the Racquet Club. You may contact the pro shop, and we will add your name to the list of mentees. That's all there is to it! You will be contacted by the staff to help arrange a time to participate as well as the mentors you will be on the court with. There are no set times or dates and frequency will vary based on player needs and volunteer availability.

For the Mentors

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to donate maybe a few hours a month to help others with their tennis game. We have many newer players to the game that could greatly benefit from the skills and experience you have gained throughout the years. No coaching skills are required it's just an opportunity for players to gain experience on the court with other players with higher skills and more experience. Mike Kiser, Head Tennis Professional, can personally help prepare each mentor prior to getting on the court.

We hope to maintain an ongoing and ever changing roster of mentors and mentees to participate and hope each of you find this program both fun and rewarding.

Customized Camps for Non Resident Members

This program is designed for team captains and non resident members who are interested in bringing a group to Seabrook Island.

Any group with a minimum of 4 players participating in 4 or more hours of camp instruction qualifies the captain/organizer for a free instructional camp! Please contact Mike Kiser, Head Tennis Professional, for details on this new program.

March 2011 President's Letter

Dear Member,

I'm honored to have been elected to serve as President of your Seabrook Island Club and look forward to continuing the positive trends in Member satisfaction and Club financial performance.

Your 2011 Board of Governors and committee chairs are listed below and are currently working to establish this year's committees. Though space is limited and requests for positions are high, I would like to thank everyone who has volunteered to participate on one of our committees. It is this spirit of volunteerism that makes our club successful.

One of our key objectives for this year is to increase the margin on Club operations as a means of proactively controlling potential cost pressures on future dues. This will include the generation of additional revenues through better utilization of our facilities while maintaining the value of your Membership and your access to Club amenities and services. Among the initiatives being considered are incentives to increase Member and rental guest usage of our golf courses and tennis courts through off-peak pricing as well as selective use of our facilities by outside non-members. No decisions have been made yet, and more information will be provided on this topic in the coming months. In addition to revenue generation, our management team is leveraging their experience with operating the new facilities to reduce expenses and operate as efficiently as possible, while maintaining the service levels highly valued and utilized by our members and guests. This focus has already proved fruitful, as over $20,000 in expense savings (flowing straight to the bottom line) have already been identified!

A change in Board meetings will take place this year as well. Because Member attendance has been low in open Board meetings, we will supplement these open meetings with quarterly "Town Hall" meetings. The Town Hall meetings will consist of a financial review, an operational review and a review of a key topic of interest followed by a question and answer period for the attendees. Happy hour priced drinks will be available after the meeting and we hope this will give the attending Members a better chance to get to know their Board in a casual, personal setting. Dates for this year's Town Hall meetings are listed below.

I look forward to another successful year at Seabrook Island Club and encourage you all to continue to support the Club through your usage of our fantastic amenities and services!

Warm Regards,

Coby Van de Graaf
