Referendum on Proposed Bylaw Changes
The Club periodically reviews its' Bylaws. This month, the Board reviewed a number of changes proposed by a Bylaws Task Group. Most of the recommendations were of a non-material nature and do not impact members of the Club in a substantive manner and were approved by the Board. There were eight changes considered to be of a more "material" nature. These were unanimously approved by the Board to be recommended for Membership approval by means of a September referendum. The changes are in the following areas:
· Two changes adjust the dollar limits on the Board's management of Club Assets and one adds a Membership vote requirement for the long term borrowing of substantial funds. These changes better reflect the current Club asset and transaction levels and institutionalize recent borrowing practices.
· A change in the requirements for future Emeritus status, including the removal of this category for Members joining post 12/31/2010, and phased changes in the dues discount and payment options available to Emeritus Members. These changes address current and potential cash flow concerns and more equitably administer refundable equity payments to Emeritus and resigned Members.
· A change in the definition of a Resident Member for greater clarity, ease of administration and to better match the geographic area of likely candidates for resident membership.
· A change in the process for a refundable equity member's inclusion on the refundable equity waiting list to reduce the administrative burden of current practices and to be enable more timely returns of equity for Members selling their property and resigning from the Club
· A change in the assignment of a "Designated" member of an entity-owned property to better align with the SIPOA Protective Covenants' Club membership requirements.
· A reconfiguration of the requirements for operating and capital assessments to include Membership approval when an individual assessment or the sum of multiple assessments of either type exceeds a specified level, and the addition of the ability to apportion capital assessments in a fair and equitable manner based on the Membership category's relative benefits from the assessment.
The eight changes, including the before and after language, and the reasons they are recommended, will be contained in the material distributed with the Referendum Ballot. The full text of the Bylaws will be posted on the Club's web site coincident with the mailing of the material. Any Member wishing a printed copy may obtain one at that time by contacting Lisa Miller, Club Membership Manager, on 843.768.7805.

Adult Clinics
Every Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 the professional staff conducts a short game clinic on pitching, chipping, putting, and bunker play. One week, we focus on chipping and putting. The next week, we focus on pitching and bunker. So, if you are beginner or just need a tune-up on the short game, call the Golf Shop, 768-2529, to sign up. The cost is $15.
On Thursdays from 9:30- 10:30 and Saturdays from 12 - 1, the professional staff conducts a 1 hour clinic devoted to the full swing. TENNIS NEWS
Summer Two Tier Court Reservations System
As a quick reminder, we are currently in the summer schedule for court reservations through the end of August. To guarantee two hours of court time and to more effectively utilize courts during morning peak times we utilize a two tier booking system in the am hours. Court reservations may be made at either 8:00am or 10:00am to ensure a full two hours of play. Members may reserve a court at other times, but are not guaranteed a full two hours and players in the first tier of 8:00am must relinquish their court promptly at 10:00am when the court has been reserved at 10:00am.
Ladies Quads Continue Though August and Into The Fall!
Every Thursday at 8:00am
**Pre sign is required and space may be limited**
This program is currently open to women of all levels and is designed to provide competitive outlet for play on an ongoing/regular basis. All league teams are encouraged to participate in this program and use it as your weekly team practice for the summer months. Players may register in advance in the pro shop. Sign ups after each Tuesday (48 hours prior to the date) will be accepted on a space available basis.
If it is your first time playing in the quadrant the pro's will place you in what they feel is the appropriate position utilizing NTRP and prior experience as guidelines.
